The film is an adaptation of Victor Headley’s novel of the same name. The film follows the story of a young Jamaican named “D” who comes to London in the early 1980’s and unexpectedly finds the murderer of his brother from back in Jamaica ten years before.

Elba who also has a role in the film has spoken about his vision for the film. “I am interested in making human stories with characters that are either, full of grace or flawed. In Yardie the audience will see a film that hopefully means something to the people. I’m honoured to be able to shoot in my hometown of London and as a guest in Jamaica.”
