Jamaican Farmers Certified in Climate Smart Farming
166 farmers in St Thomas and St Andrew are now certified in climate smart farming techniques to improve their produce while protecting their lands and the island’s water supply.
According to an advisory from the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), the farmers have successfully completed a 13-week climate smart land husbandry training called Farmer Field School.
The programme is geared towards farmers learning and implementing techniques that lessen soil erosion and water contamination as well as prevent and manage forest fires.
