National Youth Orchestra of Jamaica Presents Fund Raising Concert November 7

National Youth Orchestra

The National Youth Orchestra of Jamaica will be presenting a fund raising concert on Sunday, November 7, at 4 pm at Stella Maris Church Hall to raise funds for their programs.

The concert will mainly feature the NYOJ Instructors and Friends chamber group performing a selection of classical and contemporary pieces, plus selections by students of the NYOJ.

The National Youth Orchestra of Jamaica is a music education program for children that started last January in Kingston, Jamaica.

There is currently a pilot project underway which includes the first orchestra training centre being held at St. Andrew Technical High School on Spanish Town Road. The programme currently enrolls some 60 youths between the ages of 10 and 18, who attend schools in the surrounding communities including Greenwich Primary, St. Andrew Primary, St. Andrew Technical High School, Denham Town Primary, Denham Town Secondary and Tivoli Comprehensive High School.

The program has just started its second school year and continues to have a significant impact on the lives of these inner-city children.

It promises to be a great musical event and a truly worthy cause!

Tickets for the concert are available at Music Mart and the Edna Manley College’s School of Music Office, for $1000. All proceeds from the event will be in aid of the NYOJ orchestra program.

Hey! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how
to make your site mobile friendly? My website looks weird when browsing from
my iphone. I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able
to resolve this problem. If you have any suggestions,
    please share. Thanks!
