YardEdge Talks to Tony “Paleface” Hendriks About his New Project Operation Pandora

See Chapter 2 here

Tony “Paleface” Hendriks is a  hilarious! Jamaican comedian living and working in London, England but lived and worked for many years in Jamaica.  YardEdge recently chatted with him about his latest project “Operation Pandora”.

YardEdge: Tell me about Operation Pandora?

Tony: Operation Pandora came out of some writing I was doing for The Ity & Fancy Cat Show. I came up with this situation but thought it better suited the Laugh Jamaica posse: Bello, Blakka, Joan Andrea and myself more than IFC.

The basic premise is: Two policemen, an Englishman and a Jamaican, go undercover to bring down the Tapanaris Posse.

The two policemen don’t know it but they are being manipulated by a secret society of angry citizens: Ras Jangler, Inspector Rose X. Truly, Lawyer Allus Fibb and retired headmistress Teacher Wisdom.

The two policemen are just ordinary men and they bungle, slip up, fail and cause havoc, but are quite heroic in their naiveté and innocence.

YardEdge: What are you trying to achieve?

Tony: I started writing long before the Dudus/Tivoli situation came to a head but I realise there is a groundswell of Jamaicans sick and tired of being pushed and shoved around and feeling that they have no voice. That can result in people taking matters into their own hands. I’m not suggesting militia but that same resentment and frustration results in people talking about demonstrating for better governance.

I also believe we should concentrate on stopping the big man dem rather than always stamping on the likkle man. The big man been getting away with murder for far too long.

YardEdge: Who are the main actors? others behind the scenes?

Tony: Winston Bell and myself, Tony Hendriks, are supported by Joan Andrea Hutchinson and Blakka Ellis among others. Mark Gentles’ VidQuip Ltd. Produced the show. Jeremy Rogers is the director of photography.

YardEdge: Where was it produced?

Tony: Everything was shot on the plains of Kingston or in the hills of St. Andrew. It was edited in Jamaica by Sheryll Warren-Plummer. I do the writing in London.

If and when we shoot any more of the project, we plan to roam around Jamaica.

YardEdge: Where and when will it air?

Tony: At the moment all we’ve shot is this pilot. I’m waiting for sponsorship to see if we can complete a series in which case it will air on either TVJ or CVM. Otherwise it’s home will be on YouTube.

YardEdge: What are your plans for the future?

Tony: I live in London. My work as a stand up comedian takes me all over the UK, Europe and USA. Comedy in Jamaica can buy a car but working overseas can buy a home and support a family. It’s a crying shame because I’d rather live at home in Jamaica but it’s the reality of life.

We still manage to reach home on a regular basis and you have to give thanks for everything you have in this life.

YardEdge:  final thoughts?

Tony: 1Love.

Health and wellness is the fastest growing industry as a
direct result of the aging of the babyboomer generation. My advice is to find a marketing system that will allow you to do this and
leverage the system to build your business.
In simple terms, you’re making money off of EVERYONE that joins your organization after you acheive this level.

Good interview. Some interesting quotes from Tony “Paleface” Hendriks. He needs sponsorship for a good Jamaican programme. I just hope he can get the support. We complain about not enough local programmes but our own people won’t get behind the creations.

    All the best!
