Calabash International Literary Festival 09 Cancelled

Due to lack of corporate and government support, the Calabash International Literary Festival has been canceled for this year.

The organizers say they need to find US$30,000 to make the event happen this year…if anyone can help please contact the Calabash oganizers at Jake’s Hotel.

    I have to imagine that at least some of the persons attending could find it in themselves to donate $1000 or whatever (JMD)- I don’t you could or should make it required, but a lot of the patrons understand the climate and would.

    I suppose part of the problem would be that someone would still need to put the cash up front to pay for everything.

    I’m suggesting that patrons attending pay a small fee – 1000 people paying $30 is $30,000. I don’t think we can continuously look to the gov’t to solve problems.
